Brief Profile

Dr. Farid A. Sobhani is a Professor in the School of Business and Economics at United International University (UIU), Dhaka. He is a Visiting Professor at ARI-Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia. Recently he has become the President of Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA). He is the Vice President of Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO) and Founding Chairman of Bangladesh Society for Human Resources Management (BSHRM), Chattogram. He is a Registered Scrum MasterTM at Scrum Inc., USA; Lead, AiE Asia; and a Board Member at Agile in Education USA, New York. Dr. Sobhani started his career as a corporate professional around 26 years back. He served as a Financial Analyst cum Company Secretary at Credit Rating Information and Services Limited (CRISL), Dhaka. He was a Professor and Dean at Daffodil International University (DIU) and International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC). He served as an external member at Rajshahi University, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), and taught in the MBA Program at Bangladesh Open University (BOU), Dhaka. After completion of BBA and MBA from University of Chittagong, he obtained a second Master’s in Project Management from University of Antwerp, Belgium. He did his PhD in Corporate Sustainability & HR Disclosure from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. He is a trainer in the fields of HR, accounting, leadership and life-skills. He published 11 (eleven) books and magazines. He received Swadhinata Sangsad Sommanona ‘Education Award 2022’ by Swadhinata Sangsad, Dhaka and ‘HR Guru Award 2017’ by Stamford University, Dhaka for significant contributions to the respective fields. He received research grants from Australia, Malaysia and Bangladesh for carrying out intensive academic research and successfully completed the same. He got published 100+ articles in Journals, conference proceedings, magazines and newspapers. His areas of research intertest are corporate disclosure, HR, leadership, and agile in education. He was a Coordinator of USIM-IIUC PhD Collaboration Program at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Nilai, Malaysia. He supervised PhD students at home and abroad; and examined doctoral theses as an external examiner at globally reputed universities in Australia, Malaysia and India. He explored 21 countries around the world, presented research papers, and delivered keynote speeches in many international conferences in Asia, Australia, Europe, and United States.

  • Received Research Grant for an amount of BDT 1,000,000.00+ (One million+) jointly funded by Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) of UIU and Australian Academy of Business Leadership (AABL), Sydney for carrying out research related to university administration as a Principal Investigator with the researchers from CQ University, Sydney and Kent Institute Australia, Sydney for a period of two years from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2023.
  • Received Research Grant for an amount of BDT 4,99,000.00 (Four lac ninety-nine thousand) from Institute for Advanced Research of UIU for carrying out research in Human Resource Management as a Principal Investigator with the researchers from Central Queensland University, Australia for a period of one year till 15 March 2021 and the project was successfully completed on time.
