School of Business and Economics of United International University (UIU) organized a series program titled “Journey of the Banking Sector in Bangladesh” as a part of Bangladesh Corpus: Public Lecture Series-2024 on May 08, 2024 (Sunday) at 3:00 pm at UIU Campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka – 1212.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank and Professor, BRAC University was present as the Keynote Speaker in the program. While Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman & Managing Director, United Group was present in the program. The Dean of School of Business and Economics, UIU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Musa presided over the ceremony and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Mario Hirstein, Assistant Professor, Department of Media Studies & Journalism, UIU.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that Banks are one of the oldest institutions - the functions of the banking sector are fundamental to any economic system in history. In his talk titled "Journey of the Banking Sector of Bangladesh", Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, former governor at Bangladesh Bank, gave a detailed look into the history of banking in Bangladesh and laid out its potential problems and issues to tackle in the future.

Heads of different departments, faculty members, officials, students and other distinguished guests were present in the program.
