BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION IN

ACCOUNTING & INFORMATION SYSTEMS (BBA IN AIS)

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting & Information Systems is designed by the United International University (UIU) to offer an internationally recognized degree at undergraduate level that will help prepare potential accounting professionals, business executives, entrepreneurs and academics. The program is rigorous with an emphasis on practicalities and skills for immediate use, which offers students a comprehensive education in all major facets of business.

OBJECTIVES

The BBA in Accounting & Information Systems program aims at addressing the growing demand of efficient accounting professionals by providing comprehensive theoretical and rigorous practical knowledge and skill combining the inter-disciplinary coverage of business and social science education. Thus, this specialized BBA Program of UIU seeks to:

 Provide emphasis on developing knowledge and skills of students on business in general and on accounting in particular.

 Prepare students to be capable of undertaking responsibility as young executives in private, government, semi-government and social sector organizations with an immediate use of their knowledge in accounting practice.

 Prepare students to be competent to sit for the national and global professional accounting examinations with minimum additional preparation.

 Provide complete grooming of students’ morality and personality.

 Develop awareness and understanding of students of the complex global environment; and

 Develop adequate competence of students for carrying out further research, education and training.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A minimum GPA of 2.5/2nd division/equivalent grade in SSC and HSC or equivalent public examinations. Students with GPA 2.00 in any examination either SSC or HSC, however, must have a minimum GPA of 6.00 totaling the GPA of both the examinations. Candidates who have passed at least 5 papers in GCE “O” Level (with Mathematics as one of the subjects) and two papers of “A” Level may also apply provided they have obtained minimum 3.00 points (weighted average) in both “O” level “A” level computed according to following scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1.

Applications will, however, be evaluated on the basis of both previous academic achievements and admission test scores. Admission test will consist of a written examination on language, mathematics and analytical skills. A student having a minimum score of 1000 in SAT (with a minimum of 400 in verbal SAT) is exempt from taking the BBA admission test (written) administered by the university.

COURSE WAIVER/TRANSFER POLICY

 A student must have obtained at least a grade of ‘B’ or equivalent in a similar course from any reputed university/institution for course waiver/transfer. A student may be allowed maximum course waiver up to 60 credit hours (20 courses) based on the recommendation of the course equivalence committee.

For BBA in AIS, students partly or fully qualified by professional accounting bodies such as ICMAB, ICAB, CIMA, ACCA, etc. that are members of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) may be allowed credit transfer up to 10 courses (30 credit hours) in addition to course waiver stated above subject to the approval of the Course Equivalence Committee (CEC) of SoBE.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

The BBA in Accounting & Information Systems degree requirements are as follows:

  • Completion of 125 credit hours
  • Completion of the internship program (3 credit hours) with at least a ‘C’ grade; and

(c) Passing of all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of 2.00.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting & Information Systems program consists of 125 credit hours, including an internship/project for 03 credit hours. Students are required to complete at least 38 courses before enrolling for internship/project program. The university follows a flexible system of course offering. Students may choose the number of courses he/she wants to enroll with consultation of his/her academic adviser. In a given trimester, a student must enroll a minimum of three courses; however, he/she may not enroll in more than five courses unless otherwise approved by the advisor or program office. Exception can be made subject to the approval of the Dean of School of Business & Economics. The following structure provides details of course distribution.
