Admission Requirements

A higher secondary certificate or its equivalent in science, arts, commerce or other fields of study is the basic educational requirement. Minimum qualifying GPA to be eligible to apply is 7.00 in SSC and HSC combined or Equivalents with at least GPA 3.00 in either exam. Candidates who have passed at least 5 papers in GCE “O” Level (with Mathematics as one of the subjects) and two papers of “A” Level may also apply provided they have obtained minimum 3.00 points (weighted average) in both “O” level “A” level computed according to following scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1.

Applications will, however, be evaluated on the basis of both previous academic achievements and admission test scores. Admission test will consist of a written examination on language, mathematics and analytical skills, followed by an interview conducted by the University. A student having a minimum score of 1000 in SAT (with a minimum of 400 in verbal SAT) is exempt from taking the BBA admission test (written) administered by the university. But all the students must appear before a personal interview as a part of the admission requirements.

COURSE WAIVER/TRANSFER POLICY

A student must have obtained at least a grade of B or equivalent in a similar course from any reputed university/institution for course waiver/transfer. A student may be allowed maximum course waiver up to 60 credit hours (20 courses) based on the recommendation of the course equivalence committee.

Degree Requirements

The BBA in Accounting & Information Systems degree requirements are as follows:

  • Completion of 40 courses (120 credit hours)
  • Completion of the internship program (3 credit hours) with at least a ‘C’ grade; and
  • Passing of all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of 2.00.

Semester Duration and Class Schedule

The academic year for the BBA in Accounting & Information Systems program is divided into three trimesters: Spring, Summer and Fall. The duration of the trimesters will be 15 (fifteen) weeks. Classes will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the weekdays. During a trimester each course meets for 3 hours per week. However, additional hours if needed for a course may be scheduled by the concerned faculty as and when needed. Make-up classes are to be scheduled on off-days or holidays to take care of classes lost due to unavoidable reasons.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting & Information Systems program consists of 120 credit-hours spread over 40 courses and an internship/project for 3 credit- hours. Students are required to complete at least 39 courses before enrolling for internship/project program. The university follows a flexible system of course offering. Students may choose the number of courses he/she wants to enroll with consultation of his/her academic adviser. In a given trimester, a student must enroll a minimum of three courses; however, he/she can not enroll in more than five courses. Exception can be made subject to the approval of the Dean of School of Business and Economics. The following structure provides details of course distribution.
